I have been a teacher for 34 years, during which time I have been an elementary art specialist, a middle school art teacher, a high school art teacher, and the "Young Artist" Program Director at Watkins School of Art Design and Film in Nashville, Tennessee. I jokingly tell people that I have always followed my children through school and that they refused to allow me to go to Ole Miss with them. My series of tailgate dishes and paintings were my attempt to bring Oxford to me while my children were there. My inspiration usually comes from the things I love; my grandson, my children, husband, mom and dad, sisters, my nieces and nephew.
Watercolor was my first love; but I have grown to love the speed of acrylics. Over the last two decades, I have discovered Raku, glass fusing, jewelry and paper making. I love art, and learning new techniques never ceases to excite me. The contrast of colors and the play of light are ever present in my work. I love art and I thank you for the opportunity to share my work with you. |
